Your Hardworking Advocate

Criminal charges and convictions can have a profound impact on your life. Florida Misdemeanors and Felonies

In Florida, misdemeanors include crimes such as shoplifting, DUI or driving with a suspended license. Misdemeanors are broken up into two categories: first degree and second degree.

  • First-degree misdemeanor offenses can result in a jail sentence of up to one year, in addition to probation and a fine of up to $1,000.
  • A second-degree misdemeanor is considered a lesser offense, and it can include a jail sentence of up to 60 days, probation and a fine of up to $500.

Felonies carry much more severe penalties and can include jail sentences of one year and a day to life in prison. Felony offenses can include, but aren't limited to rape, murder, robbery, burglary and grand theft.
